Earnest Roots Farm is a proud member of the state's new agricultural branding program, Sweet Grown Alabama. Operated by Josh and Kiley Morrison since 2017, Earnest Roots Farm grows pasture-raised poultry and eggs, pasture-raised pork and more.
“This year, we've added sheep and honeybees. Each of these have come with their own learning curve, and we are still learning every day,” said Kiley. “That is one of the many beauties of farming-there's always something to learn.”
Sweet Grown Alabama exists to connect Alabama farmers and families. The non-profit foundation helps farmers promote their products through a convenient online searchable database. Consumers can locate Sweet Grown Alabama farmers in their area by searching the database via zip code or by product.
”As a consumer, there is no feeling quite like knowing exactly where and how your food has been grown,” said Ellie Watson, Sweet Grown Alabama director. “Earnest Roots Farm is the kind of business that you can confidently support- knowing your dollar helps support local and knowing you’re getting a high-quality product. We are thrilled the Morrisons are a part of our Sweet Grown Alabama family.”
Josh and Kiley both grew up with a long history of farming. The farm was named after Kiley’s grandfather, Ernest, who owned and operated a dairy farm on the land the Morrisons now farm. The Morrison family has grown their farm exponentially over the past three years and have recently expanded to offer local home delivery. Josh and Kiley say they want to ship their products in the future to grow their business even more.
“We love the relationship we get to have with our animals and our customers,” said Josh.
