Hilltop Farm was officially licensed in 2016, but our family farm is now being managed by us as third generation farmers. My grandfather and father primarily raised cattle here but my husband (Mike) and I began to venture out as two retired teachers to open our farm to children through class field trips. We offer visits to groups in Spring and Fall as students experience opportunities to feed animals (goats, chickens), take a hayride to see cows and our beekeeping operations, and participate in various hands-on activities: planting flowers in Spring, pumpkins in Fall, and exploring and picking vegetables in the garden. Field trips also include farm centers consisting of farm books, puzzles, Rock Hill, hay jumping, ball barn and tractor tire target games, photo ops in fields planted with cotton, corn or soybeans (dependent on yearly planting schedule). Though we originally targeted school groups only, we have expanded our base of visitors to special needs therapeutic centers, church groups, and homeschool groups.
We sell eggs and honey through our Facebook page; and subject to availability, we sale tomatoes, sweet potatoes, beans and peppers.
We vary with scheduled field trips. The field trips generally run from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on weekdays.
