We live in the old Scott House built in 1836. My husband’s family has owned the farm since 1948. It was a pig farm at the time of purchase and they continued to farm the land (homestead) to provide food for the family. Milking cows before school and the whole 9 yards. My husband (3rd generation on the farm) and I have decided to bring the farm back to life. Keeping the old ways alive and incorporating some new ways. We have pasture raised pork and beef. We grow pesticide free vegetables and flowers (tons of flowers). Here on the farm we built a small farm store that’s self serve and open seven days a week all year long. This is what works best for our community. We host You Pick Flowers during the spring summer and fall and will be adding other events this year as well. We also participate in our local farmers market. We have big plans for the 40 acres that are left intact (once over 440). We want to teach people to grow their own food and capture the interest of the young kids and adults in our community. For the ones that can’t grow their own food we want to provide it for them.
